UFC 144 – Ben Henderson vs. Frankie Edgar – February 26, 2012

Well, looks like Frankie Edgar is going to defend his title against Ben Henderson. I highly doubt that Ben Henderson will be able to stand with Frankie, but one thing is for certain, Edgar will not be submitting Henderson in this bout, especially not with a guillotine. Henderson has the slipperiest neck that I’ve ever seen.

I don’t think that this will be an exciting fight, but who knows. Edgar’s been known to shine, especially with his fights against Maynard, but I never get too cised to see his fights. They are more of a boxing match than anything.

On a good note, Rampage returns to the ring. I can’t even remember who Bader fought last, but I think he got KTFO by some older fighter. I wish I could remember who it was. Maybe Wanderlei? Anyways, he’s one of those guys that is good, but won’t ever be good enough. He’ll win one, lose one, but never really put on a show. We’ll see how this one goes.

Does anyone really care about this card? UFC is really put out a lot of cards this year, and this is one of the casualties. There’s really no one on here that I care too much about. Luckily it’s free and not on PPV.

Anyways, it looks like Diego Sanchez moves back up to welter weight to fight Jake Ellenberger. I guess Diego didn’t fare too well at lightweight. Oh well, let’s see if he shows up for this one.

UFC 143 – Nick Diaz vs. Carlos Condit – February 4, 2012

Nick Diaz returns to the Octagon against Carlos Condit for the interim Welter Weight title, with Georges St-Pierre down for the count with a torn ACL. Carlos Condit has really gotten the short end of the stick here, as he was scheduled to fight GSP twice now, with both fights cancelled due to one reason or another. Now, again, he’s fighting for the “title” in quotes. This guy has more than proven himself, but his promotional skills are lacking, which is why he’s been overlooked so many times. Guys like Diaz and Sonnen are masters at the art of promotion, whether they know it or not, so they get all of the attention.

However, on February 4th, when they both step into the Octagon and the cage closes, nothing else will matter. The best man will walk out with his hand raised. To be honest with you, I’d like to see Diaz win and go on to face GSP. Condit may have a chance, but I think Diaz will make a better show. And who cares about anybody else on this card?

Michael Bisping steps in to replace the injured Mark Munoz, which kinda kills this card. I don’t think Bisping will ever be a top contender, but I’d love to see Mark Munoz step up to one of the big guys. Unfortunately, we won’t see this happen. Not for a few months at least. In the meantime, we’ll just have to make due with the Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis fight. Hopefully, Davis won’t beat Evans, as this fight is supposed to be the build-up to Evans vs. Jon Jones. Although, I wouldn’t mind seeing Rashad Evans’ face get bashed in.

Melvin Guillard under Greg Jackson was unstoppable until his last fight with the underrated Joe Lauzon. Now, Melvin moved to a new training camp called the Blackzillians in Florida, ending his relationship with Greg Jackson amicably. It’ll be interesting to see how he does with this new training camp and a new coach.
